Post Mother’s Day Post

IMG_0401.JPGCheers! Now sit down and we’ll talk.

My Mother called me five times yesterday. Yes, five times. Family Emergency? No. She just wants to talk. Did I Answer? No. Ok, Ok, wait you Mommas out there, or Mommas to be, who are clutching your wombs wondering “omg she didn’t answer, she’s the devil”. I texted her. This is the millennial blog, and this is why I’m writing.

I texted my mother, and asked what is so important that she calls me 5 times all before 5pm .

The answer; absolutely nothing. She asked if I was coming home this weekend, it being a holiday weekend, and when will I be there.

Holiday weekends, being valuable time to drink with friends and catch up on sleep, are always a gamble for me. People are having BBQ’s and throwing parties or traveling, and having only 10 days of PTO through the year, I never know what I want to do.

So after telling her I was coming home, I received another phone call, which I answered after a few rings, that filled me in on all the plans she had for this upcoming weekend. Never mind sleeping in and relaxing.

So laddies, or gentleman, whose on my boat? Who wants their mothers to start texting more and calling less? If your mother already texts you, then seriously sit down for a second, take a sip of wine, and consider yourself lucky. If your mother doesn’t call you at all because you are estranged then sit down, take a sip of wine, and text your mother or even snail mail. I know you don’t want too, but lets be frank, we are on our phones constantly. We are on Snap Chat, and Insta, and Twitter, and all of the dating sites that your friends have recommended. So text your mama. She has loved you the most and for the longest, even if she doesn’t seem like it.

Now for all you winos out there. This picture was taken at bull run winery in VA. I highly recommend it (they aren’t paying me to say this) but they have a gorgeous view of the mountains and vineyard, they also have live music and you can bring your own food. Which we took full advantage of by packing an entire cooler full of cheese and crackers and meats. Their bottles are a bit expensive… so I recommend going drunk and only buying one bottle. They also have a separate kids playground for all of you mothers out there. I hope Mother’s Day was as pleasant as getting drunk at this winery.

Until next time… which will probably be tomorrow since I have a plethora of Memorial Day drink guides.

Finish your wine and then pour more.
